Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) RecyclingResidents of San Joaquin County have the opportunity to recycle unwanted computer monitors and televisions. These items will be accepted* for FREE at:
Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility & Transfer Station
North County Recycling Center & Sanitary Landfill
Foothill Sanitary Landfill *maximum of four (4) CRTs per trip will be accepted at no charge.
Computer monitors and televisions contain picture tubes called cathode ray tubes (CRTs). Each CRT contains approximately 5 to 7 pounds of lead. Because they contain large amounts of lead and other hazardous materials, CRTs are considered hazardous waste and may not be landfilled. The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) sponsors a Web page for reuse and recycling sources at http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Electronics/Collection/RecyclerSearch.aspx.
