Rechargeable and Single Use Batteries

All batteries are considered hazardous waste in California when they are discarded.  This includes AAA, AA, C, D, button cell, 9 Volt, and all other batteries, both rechargeable and single use.  Batteries are considered hazardous because of the toxic and/or corrosive materials contained within.  All batteries must be recycled, or taken to a household hazardous waste facility, a universal waste handler, or an authorized recycling facility for proper disposal.

There is NO COST for San Joaquin County residents to drop off these materials at the HHW Facility for proper disposal.

PLEASE DO NOT PLACE THESE ITEMS IN THE GARBAGE!
