Steve Moore (54 years of age)
San Joaquin County Sheriff - Coroner - Public Administrator
Elected Sheriff November 9, 2006, and sworn into office January 8, 2007.
Sheriff Moore began his law enforcement career at the Oxnard Police Department in 1975. In 1982, he joined the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff.
He has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and has commanded every major division within the Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Moore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology Law Enforcement from California State University, Fresno, and a single subject teaching credential. He is also a graduate of the
185th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.
Sheriff Moore is a recipient of the Linden Lions Club Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and the California Peace Officers' Association "Award of Distinction" 2005.
Sheriff Moore is a recipient of the California State Legislature Certificate of
Recognition for Distinguished Alumni Award Class of 1990 by the Leadership
Stockton Alumni Association.
In June 2007 Sheriff Moore was appointed to the California Council for Interstate Adult Supervision by Governor Schwarzenegger.
In April 2009 Sheriff Moore was appointed to the California State Sheriffs'
Association (CSSA) Board of Directors and is the Chairman for the Audit, Budget
and Finance Committee.
In January 2010 Sheriff Moore was appointed to the California Boating and
Waterways Commission.
Married for 29 years to wife Robyn Giannechini Moore.
His daughter Stephanie is in the Masters Program at
St. Mary's College in Moraga and his son Gregory is attending San Joaquin Delta College. The Moore family resides in Linden.
Steve enjoys working, traveling, running, dining with friends and spending time with his family.
