The Heavy Equipment section provides Road and Tire
Services. The Fabrication shop is managed by Heavy Equipment. Equipment
maintenance activities include servicing, repairing and rebuilding various types
of County-owned equipment. This includes heavy-duty trucks, construction
equipment, ferryboats, and movable bridges. Annual services of County equipment
include the dismantling of major components on specialized construction
equipment. Repairs are performed as required to insure reliability of this
equipment during peak usage periods. Unscheduled repairs are accomplished on an
as-needed basis, including repairs at the equipment job site. Other services
include preparation of new vehicles for service, and preparing old vehicles for
sale.
