VOLUNTEER
ANIMAL KEEPER AIDE POSITIONS AVAILABLE
- Keeper Aides assist the animal care
staff with the daily care of the animals, cleaning and maintaining
exhibits and preparing diets. You can also enhance the lives of these
interesting and fascinating animals by providing and maintaining enrichment items that help keep the animals physically and mentally
alert.
- Volunteers can also be active in
behavioral modification, animal observation and data collection that
allows the anim
 al care staff to better care and manage this diverse
animal collection. These programs also offer you a HANDS ON
opportunity to gain experience in the animal care field.
Training is offered throughout the year when
positions become available. Training includes safety, diet, visitor
education and animal handling. If you commit 4 hours a week, are sixteen
years of age or older, Micke Grove Zoo offers a variety of opportunities
for volunteers to get involved in promoting conservation, building a
better zoo, learning about wildlife and having a great time. While you are
volunteering you will have free entry to Micke Grove Park and Zoo.
