When You are Caught Dumping Illegally...

San Joaquin County has zero tolerance policy toward illegal dumpers. Anyone caught faces citation and arrest. Fines range from $100 to $1,000. Defendants are charged under Penal Code Section 374.3, subsections A and H. Depending on the amount of materials, the first and second offense is prosecuted as a citation (ticket). A third violation is typically prosecuted as a misdemeanor. Penal Code Section 374.3

Dumping on Private Property

Dumping garbage or collecting junk on private property is not allowed in San Joaquin County. County departments involved in investigating illegal dump sites include Code Enforcement, Environmental Health and Office of Emergency Services.
