Emergency Response
The Children's Services Division's focus is to
preserve the family unit whenever possible, but the number one priority is insuring the
safety of our children. Child Protective Services investigates reports of abuse or
neglect of children. Reports can be made any time, day or night, 7 days a week.
468-1333
Once a report is made, an investigation is
conducted that may result in one or more of the following services being provided to the
child and his/her family:
Family Social Work
The Family Social Work programs provides ongoing court-ordered services
to parents and their children in two ways:
-
Family
Maintenance
These services are offered to those parents and children who
need close monitoring at home.
-
Family
Reunification
These time-limited services are provided to those families
whose children have been removed by Juvenile Court due to the high
level of risk to the children.
Permanent Placement (PP)
is designed to provide an alternative permanent family structure for children who cannot
safely return to their parents. The placements are either long-term
foster care or legal guardianship.
Foster Care
The Foster Care program provides a home and family oriented
environment for those children needing a temporary or long-term home.
Adoption
The Adoption Program provides services for children needing
permanent homes, adoptive home studies for prospective adoptive parents
and post adoption services.
Treatment Program
The Treatment Program provides out-of-home placements of children in
need of specialized services for mental, emotional, behavioral, or
physical problems.
Independent Living
Program
The Independent Living Program is integrated with the Foster Care
Program and is designed to prepare older foster youth for life beyond
foster care.
Additionally, it is the County's
responsibility to provide a safe haven for children needing emergency removal from his or
her home due to suspected physical or sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment or exploitation,
any time of the day or night. This care and service is provided through Mary Graham
Children's Shelter.
