Q: How do I get certified as a First Responder?

To eligible as a First Responder in San Joaquin County (SJC) an applicant must:
  1. Be affiliated with a recognized SJC first response organization;
  2. Successfully complete approved First Responder Course;
  3. Successfully pass pre-established written and skills test;
  4. Submit an application with application fee (application must be submitted within two years of date of course completion);
  5. Sign an affidavit stating that you are not precluded from certification for reasons defined in Section 1798.200 of the Health and Safety Codes;
  6. Have and submit a copy of a current Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider CPR/AED card;
  7. Submit a copy of a valid CA driver’s license, CA identification card or military ID.
Q: How old do I have to be to become a certified first responder?

First Responders must be eighteen years of age or older.
