JAMES P. WILLETT
James P. Willett was appointed District Attorney of San Joaquin County in
April of 2005, after the retirement of John Phillips. In June 2006, he was
elected to his first full term as District Attorney. Mr. Willett has served
the Office for the last 26 years, 10 of which were as Assistant District
Attorney.
The District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer of San Joaquin
County. The District Attorney is an elected official who serves a term of
four years and acts both as a county officer and as a state officer in
performing the duties of the office. The District Attorney is the chief law
enforcement officer for the county and his staff works with local and state
police agencies to investigate and prosecute those who are accused of breaking
the law and threatening public safety.
