APPLICANTS ARE BEING SOUGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:

1 POSITION ON THE Drug and Alcohol Programs Advisory Board FOR

COMPENSATION: None for meetings; reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses
LEGAL AUTHORITY: Health and Safety Code, Sections 11805 and 11964. Resolution R-92-736 dated 8/25/92.
MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 15 to 20 (Membership fluctuates). Membership must be representative of the geographic and demographics of the County. Law Enforcement/Criminal System, Education, Treatment/Recovery, Youth, & the General Public Membership shall have ethnic, professional, and thereof and maybe reappointed by the Board of Supervisors. The terms of membership shall be staggered such that approximately one-third of the terms will expire at the end of each calendar year. Membership shall not include any person or their spouse or their significant other who is any of the following, according to San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, a Board of Director or Staff member of the County operated or contracted program, a Staff or Board of Director of a County Health or Health related agency, or a Board of Director or Staff member of a program receiving Federal or State Funds.
TERM: 3 Year Terms, staggered appointments
DUTIES: The objectives of this Board shall be to reduce alcohol and drug abuse in San Joaquin County by: 1) Participating in the Master Planning process to establish the priorities for alcohol and drug prevention and treatment services in San Joaquin County; 2) Review the priorities established in the Master Plan on an annual basis for the purpose of evaluating the progress toward meeting the stated objectives; 3) Advise the County Alcohol and Drug Program administrator on any needed changes in the policies and goals of the County Master Plan; 4) Promote activities that educate the public on the needs and services for alcohol and drug prevention and treatment; 5) Periodically review the publicly funded programs operated by the Office of Substance Abuse; & 6) Participate on a Standing Subcommittee which focus on : A) Education/Prevention; B) Treatment/Recovery or, C) Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Issues.
MEETING DATE & LOCATION: 1st Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at various Alcohol and Drug Prgrams and other meetings as may be called by the Chairperson.

1 POSITION ON THE BOGGS TRACT COMMUNITY CENTER ADVISORY BOARD FOR

COMPENSATION: No per diem or actual expenses
LEGAL AUTHORITY: Non-mandated citizen advisory group established by the County Community Action Agency (CAA). Board Order B-88-865 dated June 21, 1988, established the composition of the advisory body and defined the terms of office for the members of the advisory group
MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 7 Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. All members must reside in the Boggs Tract Community Center service area (North: 8 Mile Road; South: Charter Way/W. Hwy 4; East: Western Pacific Railroad Tracks; West: County Line); & must be 6 years of age. 4 Members must be low-income residents; 2 members are representatives of community service organizations or groups which operate in the centers service area; 1 member is an at-large appointee interested in community action & concerned about the problems of poverty. The membership should represent, to the extent possible, a mix of age, ethinicity & sex reflecting the population of the community center service area.
TERM: 3 year terms
DUTIES: A) To assist CAA in needs assessments B) To advise CAA in setting program priorities C) Participate in the development of annual work program D) To review and comment on proposed projects and policies E) To participate in evaluating center programs. F) To play an effective role in the coordination of services at the local level. G) To assist in mobilization of community resources H) To serve as a community link to CAA Board Directors regarding problems and needs of the poor in the service area I) To serve as an advocate for the low-income community of the service area
