BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Gutierrez stated that he would favor public discussion and an interview process for the Registrar of Voters position rather than moving forward on an appointment.  He would like the opportunity to ask questions in regard to the Registrar of Voters position and how the candidate sees his role.  County Administrator Manuel Lopez stated that if the Board chooses, he can come back to the Board with a process.  Supervisor Mow said that the Registrar of Voters is a Board-appointed position.  He shares the concerns of the process and stated that  there needs to be a better process.  With regard to an Assistant Registrar of Voters, Supervisor Mow said that this is a budget matter.  County Administrator Manuel Lopez clarified that the Assistant ROV is already in the budget and the Interim ROV still occupies the Assistant ROV position.  Supervisor Ornellas emphasized that the Board begin discussions on the ROV position and Assistant ROV position.  Chairman Vogel referred this matter to the County Administrator.
