PRESENTATION

9:00 a.m. -       bos - Proclamation Proclaiming November 2007 as “Court Adoption and Permanency Month” in San Joaquin County.  Chairman Mow presented the proclamation to David Erb, Deputy Director of Children Services, Human Services Agency.  Mr. Erb informed the Board of an Annual Adoption Day on Saturday, November 17 in which eighteen families would be adopting children.  He also  recognized staff from Adoptions.

9:00 a.m. -       bos - Award of Excellence to San Joaquin County by Questys Solutions.  Clerk of the Board Lois Sahyoun and Information Systems Director Jerry Becker addressed the Board regarding this matter.

 

 

Chairman Mow announced that Discussion Item #1 - Health & Human Services  had been resolved and therefore was removed from the agenda.

County Counsel David Wooten responded to Supervisor Gutierrez’s inquiry regarding the  resolution that had been reached with respect to Discussion Health & Human Services Item #1.

Consent Item:               #13 – County Administrator Manuel Lopez responded to Chairman Mow’s question regarding the facilities that would be vacated after the various departments moved into the new Administration Building and the Ag Building.

#20 – Chairman Mow commented on the importance of this item in the County’s commitment in addressing the issues of economic development and job creation.  In response to Chairman Mow County Administrator Manuel Lopez and John Solis, Director of Employment and Economic Development Department Director John Solis explained the process and gave a presentation on the County’s Application for a California Enterprise Zone Designation.

DISCUSSION - MOUNTAIN HOUSE COMMUNITY SERVICES DISTRICT

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Ornellas reported on the Homeless Veterans Standown held on Friday, October 26, 2007. 

Supervisor Gutierrez reported on the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Youth Leadership event held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at San Joaquin Delta College.  He also reported that LULAC will be hosting their Christmas Food Baskets giveaways again this year.

Supervisor Vogel complimented Supervisor Ornellas, Judge Kronlund and Legislative Assistant Scott Tyrrell on the Homeless Veterans Standown.

Supervisor Ruhstaller reported on the bus tour to U.C. Merced.   He also reported on his visit to University of the Pacific and their plans of a pilot project to redo the Calaveras River between the Pacific Avenue and Pershing Avenue bridges.  The Army Corps of Engineers will participate.  The project will also be a living classroom to all of the schools along the river.
