PRESENTATION

9:00 a.m. -       bos - Donation by Denise and John Holbrook from the Holbrook Family Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund for Deputy Kim Poeun and Deputy Ezquiel Pena from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department for Training at the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Nevada.  Supervisor Ornellas requested that Sheriff Steve Moore and John and Denise Holbrook join him at the podium.  Clerk of the Board Lois Sahyoun read background information on the Holbrook Family Law Enforcement Scholarship. Mr. Holbrook addressed the Board and presented scholarships to Sheriff Deputies Kim Poeun and Ezequiel Pena. 

                        Sheriff Steve Moore introduced Dr. Bennet I. Omalu, recently hired by Health Care Services for the Department of Surgery, Pathology Division.

Consent Item:               #3 – Director of Health Care Services Ken Cohen informed the Board of the planned events for the 150-Year Celebration of the San Joaquin General Hospital.  Mr. Cohen explained that the funds initially requested from the Enterprise Fund will be returned by donations.  Chairman Mow requested that Mr. Cohen notify the Board of the donors so that they can be recognized.

Chairman Mow recognized Alex Breitler of the Stockton Record who is temporarily assigned to cover the Board of Supervisors news.

Supervisor Ruhstaller requested that the Board receive an update report of the status of the Agricultural Center and the Administration Building.  County Administrator Manuel Lopez stated that the Board would receive a report within the next week couple of weeks.
