COMMENT
Nicole Goehring and Kevin Dayton of the Associated
Builders and Contractors, Golden Gate Chapter, addressed the Board requesting
the Board to reconsider the Board of Supervisors’ May 22, 2007 approval of a Project Labor
Agreement (PLA) for the new
Augie Beltran, David Thomas, Secretary-Treasurer of
the Building Trades Council, and Tacho Zavala also addressed the Board
regarding the Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for the new
Chairman Mow explained that addressing items under
public comment are not agendized items and that there are no decisions that
come out of public comment. In response
to Chairman Mow, County Counsel David Wooten further clarified the contract
that is in place. Supervisor Gutierrez
stated that he is not in support of revisiting this matter.
Woody Alspaugh addressed the Board regarding urban
sprawl, fossil fuel and his trip to
ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board.

QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Chairman Mow commented that with respect to the Project Labor Agreement (PLA) prevailing wages and local hires are an important concern to the Board. He wished everyone a Happy 4th of July and stated that this is a time to reflect on us as a society, celebrate what we have as a nation and to give thanks to those that are in other parts of the world at war to assure us the ability to live in a peaceful world and to have a democratic society.

Supervisor Gutierrez introduced Lisa Leos who was involved
with the Construction Technology Program from the beginning. Ms. Leos addressed the Board regarding her
experience. She is currently a field
representative for Carpenters Local 25 in
Supervisor Ruhstaller informed the Board that the next graduating class of the Construction Technology is scheduled for Saturday, July 28 at 10:00 a.m.
