BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Sieglock stated that he had recently driven along Lower Sacramento Road in between Lodi and Stockton and observed all the garbage along the roadside.  He recommended the creation of a task force of citizens and let them come up with ideas.  Supervisor Sieglock added that the District Attorney has to get more active as well as the Sheriff and Public Works.

Supervisor Ornellas concurred with Supervisor Sieglock’s remarks.  He informed the Board of a meeting to be held on June 30 with staff regarding this matter.

Assistant County Counsel David Wooten responded to Supervisor Ornellas regarding the use of fireworks in San Joaquin County.

Supervisor Ornellas informed the Board that the contract for the company for the management of the dump site that came before the Board several months ago has been indicted in San Jose, along with the Mayor of San Jose.

Supervisor Gutierrez stated that he would have a few individuals to appoint to a panel regarding the garbage dumping along roadsides.  Supervisor Gutierrez also pointed out a graffiti problem in a neighborhood in his district.

Supervisor Mow commented that in adopting the 2006-07 budget, the Board made a commitment to fight rural crime.
