Consent Item:               #24 – Human Resources Director Don Turko responded to Supervisor Mow’s questions.  Mr. Turko stated that the position of Manager of Clinical Operations is currently vacant and has been vacant for the past two and one-half years. 

Consent Item:               #25 – Information Systems Director Clark Bennett responded to questions from Supervisors Mow and Sieglock.  Mr. Bennett stated that the public will be able to view Board Meetings live within thirty days via his/her computer.  Board Meetings will be archived.  The public will log onto the county website at www.sjgov.org and there will be user-friendly instructions on viewing the Board Meetings.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Bernice Bass and Jeanetta Hardy addressed the Board regarding no sidewalks, storm drains and traffuc problems in the Taft School area.

James Young addressed the Board regarding traffic in the area he resides.

Cary Martin addressed the Board regarding eminent domain and various matters.

ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board.

 

 

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Ornellas asked if County Counsel could work with the Community Development Director and provide a report to the Board on the effects Specific Plan III if Delta College elects not to locate in Mountain House.  Supervisor Ornellas stated that he would like the report to include what would the delays be, any planning issues, would there be any additional costs to the county, and what public funds have been spent by Delta College to date on planning at the Mountain House site.  County Counsel Terrence Dermody said that he would be happy to work with Community Development Director Kerry Sullivan on this report.  Mr. Dermody also informed the Board that the Delta College Board of Trustees were meeting in the evening of 10/18/05.

Supervisor Mow brought up the matter of the Safe Surrender Baby Program and the recent news article of a baby recently found deceased.  He stated that we need to continue educating and promoting the Safe Surrender Baby Program.

Supervisor Gutierrez briefly mentioned possible shoe shine service in the courthouse and that the Department of Aging may close the coffee shop in the basement of the courthouse.
