PUBLIC COMMENT
Patty Schwolow, Marcus Williams, Betty Sconyers, Dennis Syverson, Tammy Christian, George Sharp, Reverend Bob Hailey, Cynthia Hendershot, Felicidad Munoz, Angel Picon and ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board regarding salary negotiations for IHSS workers.
Reverend Bob Hailey also addressed the Board regarding his concerns of donated monies by county residents not reaching the Hurricane Katrina evacuees living in Stockton and the Mondez Denmon case. He asked if the Board had any input of recommending a judge. Reverend Hailey stated that he would like to see a judge from outside of the county assigned to this case.
ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Supervisor Marenco referred to a news article from The Record dated
10/11/05 regarding “Relief not getting to evacuees.” He said the article stated that the Executive Director of the San
Joaquin County Chapter of the Red Cross did not have any estimates of how much
money has been donated in San Joaquin County.
Supervisor Marenco added that he hoped the Red Cross Executive Director
will come back to the Board of Supervisors and report on the monies collected
from our area.
Board of Supervisors Questions and Comments (continued)
Supervisor Ornellas informed the Board of CSAC Counties’ Leadership
Letter dated 10/6/05 regarding the County Counsels Association of California
naming its officers for the upcoming year.
Assistant County Counsel David Wooten of our county was named to the
Court Facilities Committee.
Supervisor Ornellas also brought to the attention of the Board a news
article in the 10/8/05 issue of the Modesto Bee regarding Stockton-Mexico air
flights. Supervisor Ornellas expressed
his frustration of hearing about this matter primarily from newspapers. He requested that the Board receive some
kind of updated report. County
Administrator Manuel Lopez stated that the Airport Director would report to the
Board on Tuesday, October 25, 2005.
Chairman Gutierrez requested that a letter be written to the San Joaquin
Chapter Red Cross outlining the concerns expressed at the Board Meeting and in
the news article in The Record. County
Administrator Manuel Lopez indicated that a letter would be drafted for the
Chairman’s signature.
Chairman Gutierrez requested that when Department Heads communicate with
the press that they keep Board Members and/or the County Administrator
informed.
Lastly, Chairman Gutierrez requested that the Board receive a status
report on the negotiations with IHSS.
