22.              rov - Resolution Authorizing the Registrar of Voters Office to Conduct a School Bond Election for the Galt Union High School District and to Consolidate Said Election with the Special Consolidated Statewide Election to be Held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005.  R-05-440

DISCUSSION - PUBLIC WORKS

1.                  pw - Consideration of the Award of Contract for the Operation of the Foothill Sanitary Landfill.  (4th District) (Contd from 7/26/05)  Public Works Director Tom Flinn, Assistant County Counsel David Wooten, Attorney Dante Nomellini, Archie Humphrey, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Norcal, ToCan Nguyen and Reverend Bob Hailey addressed  the Board on this matter.  The Board (1) Continued the matter regarding the Award of Contract for the Operation of the Foothill Sanitary Landfill Operation to September 6, 2005; (2) Authorized the Public Works Director to negotiate a six-month extension of the current operating agreement, and to bring this back to the Board for approval on September 6, 2005; and (3) Directed the Public Works Director to obtain commitments from the firms who had submitted proposals to leave their proposals open for 180 days.                                                     Mow/Sieglock/4-1; Marenco/No   B-05-885

PUBLIC COMMENT

ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board on various matters.

Reverend Bob Hailey addressed the Board regarding Judges being fair, courts being disorganized, jury system and foster care.  Reverend Hailey also urged that programs dealing with substance abuse be focused on the youth of our county.

 

 

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Marenco stated that he had given a copy of a letter from the California Professional Firefighters in Sacramento who was urging the Board’s support of Rural/Metro Corporation for emergency ambulance services to the Greater Stockton Area – Zone B.  Each Board Member received a copy of the letter.

Supervisor Ornellas stated that he recently read that the Secretary of State is not going to allow the voting machines to be used in the November election.  County Administrator Manuel Lopez said that he will ask the Registrar of Voters to come back to the Board with an update report.
