BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND
COMMENTS
Supervisor Ornellas, thank Deputy John Picone for his presence in
chambers during the Board meetings. And
also, commented on testifying before the Capital Asset Realignment for Enhance
Services (CARES) Commission, this commission was in charge with making the
specific recommendations to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, regarding the
realignment and allocation of capital assets to meet the demands for Veterans
health care services over the next 20 years.
One of the recommendations would be the eventual 60,000 sq. ft. regional
clinic somewhere in the San Joaquin Valley.
Recently they appointed a committee to make the decision on where this
regional clinic will be located.
Through the chair I would like the County Administrator to direct the
Veteran Services Officer to bring a resolution to this board making our case
for displaying our desire to locate this regional clinic in our county. Supervisor Sieglock, suggested that the land
be donated or charge a $1 rate for rent.
Terry Dermody, County Counsel, recommend that the letter of support is
one issue and the dedication of land is entirely different it would have to be
taken up separately.
Supervisor Mow, commented on Congressman Robert Matsui who recently
passed away.
Chairman Gutierrez would like the
Veteran Services Officer to take the appropriate steps to agendize the Capital
Asset Realignment for Enhance Services Commission item.
Supervisor Ornellas, read in the Modesto Bee how Stanislaus County has someone on that commission.
Chairman Gutierrez, asked Manuel Lopez, County Administrator, how soon it could be put on the agenda. Manual Lopez, County Administrator, responded that within a month he would bring this item back to the Board.
