BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND
COMMENTS
Supervisor Sieglock congratulated Mr. Kenneth Cohen on the appointment of
Anne McLeod as the new Finance Director and Richard Aldred as the Interim
Hospital Director of the San Joaquin General Hospital.
Supervisor Marenco brought two matters to the attention of the
Board. He furnished a copy of the
Stockton City Council agenda of June 29, 2004, and referred to the agenda item
“Emergency Dispatch Services.”
Supervisor Marenco stated that the City of Stockton will now be
dispatching the ambulance services, and they have doubled the fee to each of
the fire departments. Secondly,
Supervisor Marenco referred to a communication that he had previously
distributed to Board Members, along with a copy to the County Administrator and
County Counsel, requesting that $2.2 million of District 2 road funds be
transferred to District 1 road funds for sidewalks on Los Angeles Street and
Washington Street in the Boggs Tract area.
Supervisor Gutierrez thanked Public Works for their extensive report in
response to his request regarding Solid Waste Disposal Facilities within San
Joaquin County. He stated that he
would like the Board to discuss the issue of the generation of revenues and
fees with regard to this matter at a future Board meeting. Supervisor Gutierrez also gave the County
Administrator a binder containing
information regarding Proposition 172, the usage of the funds and how
they are allocated.
In response to Supervisor Mow’s questions regarding the transferring of
road funds from one supervisorial district to another, County Counsel Terry
Dermody stated that generally speaking monies can be transferred, however, it
would take a 4/5’s vote by the Board.
Supervisor Marenco again stressed that he would like to use the District
2 Road funds to where he feels they are most needed, and that is in the Boggs
Tract area.
