– Roger Speed, Director of Health Care Services responded to Supervisor Mow’s
question regarding what the benefits are for the county in this transaction,
the relationship between the Health Plan and the hospital, and the status of
the VA clinic.
Supervisor
Gutierrez stated that he, along with the community of French Camp is interested
in the location of the Health Plan in French Camp. Supervisor Gutierrez also stated that there is a tremendous need
for a kidney dialysis treatment facility.

discussion regarding the City of Stockton requesting that the Health Plan
locate in downtown Stockton.

services for heroine addicts. Chairman Sieglock asked for succession rate
statistics and asked Mr. Speed to obtain those statistics. Postponed to August 12, 2003.

Board on various matters.
BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Supervisor Marenco
expressed his concerns regarding the maintenance and watering of the Courthouse
and Canlis Building grounds. He
requested that Parks & Recreation come up with a plan and that the matter
be placed on the agenda for Tuesday, August 12, 2003.
Chairman Sieglock and
Supervisor Mow also agreed that this matter should be on the agenda the
following week.
Supervisor Gutierrez
suggested that the county could also talk to the Downtown Alliance about
partnering with them.
Supervisor Gutierrez also
expressed his continuing concern regarding the Office of Substance Abuse. He requested that the matter of placing the
Office of Substance Abuse under the County Administrator, as was done with the
Mary Graham Children’s Shelter, be placed on the agenda for discussion and to
be voted on by the Board the following week.
However, Chairman Sieglock suggested that it be on the August 19 agenda.
Supervisor Ornellas
expressed his concern about losing another airline at the airport. He requested that at some point in time in
the future that the Board ask that a comprehensive business plan be prepared by
the Airport Director.
Supervisor Ornellas also
stated that it was National Night Out and he congratulated all those
neighborhoods participating in the event.
Supervisor Mow stated that he supports Supervisor Gutierrez’s request regarding the Office of Substance Abuse.
