BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

REORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

                                                                MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2003

11:00 A.M.

 

 

Invocation by Pastor William Crabtree.

Pledge of Allegiance by Chairman Mow

 

PRESENT: SUPERVISORS ORNELLAS, SIEGLOCK, GUTIERREZ, MARENCO, MOW

 

SWEARING-IN:

Re-Elected Supervisor Dario L. Marenco was sworn into office by The Honorable Judge Rolleen McIlwrath.

Re-Elected Supervisor Jack A. Sieglock was sworn into office by The Honorable Judge Dave Warner.

Outgoing Chairman Mow thanked the Board for the opportunity to serve as Chairman for the year 2002.  He emphasized that the County must continue to cooperatively and collectively work with its cities and other public agencies in planning the future of San Joaquin County and its quality of life.  Supervisor Mow stated that growth and planning issues will continue to be major issues in the coming years, and that agriculture, economic development and job creation, air quality, water issues, environmental concerns, transportation, education, health care, and public safety issues will continue to be a challenge.

Supervisor Mow also thanked the employees, senior managers, and department heads for their dedicated service to the citizens of San Joaquin County and the County Administrator and County Counsel for their past year’s guidance.  Lastly, Supervisor Mow thanked the citizens of San Joaquin County and stated that their viewpoints are important.

On behalf of the Board, Vice Chairman Sieglock presented a plaque and thanked Chairman Mow for a job well done in representing the Board as Chairman.

 

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

Supervisor Jack A. Sieglock elected as Chairman for the Year 2003. Mow/Gutierrez/5  B-03-1

Supervisor Leroy Ornellas elected as Vice-Chairman for the Year 2003. Mow/Gutierrez/5   B-03-2    

 

 

Incoming Chairman Sieglock introduced his family and thanked his Legislative Assistant Denise Warmerdam for her hard work and dedication in assisting him in the Fourth Supervisorial District.  He stated that he concurred with earlier remarks of Supervisor Mow regarding San Joaquin County and looked forward to working on those challenging issues facing our county.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. until Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m., for a Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors. Sieglock/Gutierrez/5  B-03-3
