PUBLIC COMMENT

Sheriff Baxter Dunn, addressed the Board regarding the recent job actions taken by the Deputy Sheriffs Association.  He stated that the Deputy Sheriffs contract expired in July of 2002 and they have been trying to renegotiate a new contract since January of 2002.  He encouraged the Board to ask the county negotiating team to rapidly bring before the Board a fair and equitable offer for the Board’s consideration.

ToCan Nguyen, addressed the Board on various matters.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

In referencing his earlier comments to the County Administrator regarding the Children and families Commission Recommendations for School Readiness Initiative Funding, Supervisor Gutierrez called to the Board’s attention the attachment which was a proposal review form.  He complimented this process and requested that the County Administrator share this process with any county department that utilizes a scoring mechanism in evaluating proposals that will come before the Board.

Supervisor Gutierrez requested that the County Administrator keep the Board apprised on how we are doing, especially with respect to the Human Services Agency.  He emphasized that he is concerned with having in place a fair process.

Supervisor Gutierrez informed the Board that the process for property acquisition for the San Joaquin Regional Transit District downtown facility has been successful.  Up to the present time it has been a very fair process.

Chairman Mow announced that there would not be a Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 5, 2002.  He encouraged everyone to exercise their right to vote.
