BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Supervisor Marenco announced that the Construction Technology Program will have its eighth graduating class at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2002. He added that 24 homes have been built, and the subsequent scheduled class is filled to capacity. Supervisor Marenco informed the Board that he would not be in attendance at the March 5, 2002 Board Meeting.
Chairman Mow stated that Supervisors Gutierrez and Bedford will not be available for the March 5, 2002 Board Meeting as well. Therefore, since there would not be a quorum on that date, the Board will not have a meeting. Chairman Mow also reminded Board Members that there would be no Board Meeting on March 19 as he will be in Washington, D.C. for the One Voice Conference and Supervisor Sieglock would not be available. He indicated that the appropriate parties should be notified.
Supervisor Gutierrez offered congratulations to the County Administrator for receiving the San Joaquin Engineer Council 2002 Engineer of the Year Award.
Chairman Mow informed the Board about the Stockton City Council’s discussion at its meeting of February 12, 2002 regarding ambulance services and its direction to City staff to look into a business plan with the County to pursue ambulance services. Chairman Mow expressed that he would like to have a better understanding of the ambulance services throughout the county, including information regarding the legal issues and information on the services and charges, prior to any discussion with the City.
Supervisor Marenco stated that he understood that the Stockton City Council only wanted to look into the feasibility of this matter. He stated that Health Care Services Director Roger Speed furnished information regarding the situation in a recent memorandum to the Board.
The County Administrator said that as a result of this discussion and before any meeting takes place with the City, it would be appropriate that County staff report to the Board on this matter in order to receive direction from the Board.
Chairman Mow again stated that he would like information provided by staff with respect to the services and legal issues.
