BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Supervisor Bedford thanked the residents of the Lammersville community for coming forward and submitting their petition opposing the northwest Tracy specific plan and informing the Board of their concerns. He assured them that he is well aware of the issues of the Lammersville area and that he will continue to monitor those issues.
Supervisor Marenco stated his concerns of the San Joaquin Planning Department’s actions without a hearing regarding the proposed GWF Tracy Peaker Plant.
Supervisor Gutierrez requested of the Planning Director a current status report of the GWF Tracy Peaker Plant and that he include in the report as to what authority the Board of Supervisors has with the respect to this project.
Supervisor Gutierrez also requested that the Registrar of Voters report back to the Board regarding concerns of mail ballot precinct.
Supervisor Marenco made additional comments on the GWF Tracy Peaker Plant project, indicating that the Board should have a hearing and that he had sent a letter dated 10/8/01 to the California Energy Commission in Sacramento. He objected to this project as an individual, not as a Board Member, and did not use Board Stationery.
Supervisor Bedford further commented on the GWF Tracy Peaker Plant project. He emphasized that to the contrary of what some people believe, this matter has not been before the Board of Supervisors for approval or denial. Supervisor Bedford pointed out his concerns that the Board of Supervisors should have a role and be part of the recommendations and solutions as to what occurs in San Joaquin County in regards to this matter.
County Counsel advised the Board that it was inappropriate to discuss this matter any further as it was not on the agenda and that it could be put on the agenda for further discussion.
