PUBLIC COMMENT

Bill Jennings of DeltaKeeper addressed the Board regarding the contamination of local waterways. He requested the Board of Supervisors investigate the county’s Environmental Health Department for not monitoring these waterways as they pose a health risk to the public using them.  Chairman Dario Marenco directed the Environmental Health staff to look into this matter and report back to the Board.

Rosemary Moon Atkinson, of San Joaquin County Environmental Network, and Diane Park of the League of Women Voters also addressed the Board in this matter. .  

Judith Buethe, Awards Coordinator, Targeted Opportunities to Prevent Pollution in San Joaquin County (TOPPS), addressed the Board on the 8th Annual Environmental Excellence Award. 

Georgianna Reichlt addressed the Board on Juvenile Justice Department and District Attorney’s Office.

ToCan Nguyen addressed the Board on various matters.

DISCUSSION OF GENERAL GOVERNMENT

 

1.                  cdd – Board Direction for Boggs Tract Specific Plan Implementation.

 

Chairman Marenco called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m. and explained to the audience that the purposed of the meeting was for the Board to vote on whether the Boggs Tract Area should become residential or industrial.

 

Ben Hulse, Director of the Community Development Department, gave a staff report.

 

Supervisor Gutierrez made a motion that the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors continue to recognize the area of Boggs Tract as a residential/neighborhood area and that the County start working on a plan to revitalize the neighborhood in providing the services that are provided to other residential areas in San Joaquin County.  The motion was seconded by Supervisor Mow.  Gutierrez/Mow; 4/0; Supervisor Sieglock Absent    R-01-522

 

The Board also voted to accept the Issues and Alternative Report by LSA Associates, Inc. and delayed directing that LSA prepare an implementation plan for residential development of the Boggs Tract Community and the appropriate environmental review documents for that plan until the Stockton  City Council meets on the matter and a decision is received by them.
