PUBLIC COMMENT

To Can addressed the Board on various matters.

Rev. Eugene Thrower addressed the Board regarding the Human Services Agency/CalWorks Contract Extensions for Community-Based Organizations. Chairman Marenco requested a transcript be prepared on this matter for Human Services Agency Director, John Vera.

Phil Naugle, Executive Director of the McHenry House for the Homeless, Tracy, CA. thanked the Board for their CalWorks Contract.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Supervisor Mow requested County Administrator David Baker Update the Board of Supervisors' Web Page.

Supervisor Mow discussed Energy Conservation and requested David Baker prepare a report for next week’s Agenda regarding assistance for people on relief and suggested the possibility of a PG&E representative being present. Chairman Marenco stated he would take care of this matter. David Baker suggested the report coming to the Board on February 13, 2001. Supervisor Sieglock stated he would like the Lodi City Council, Modesto Irrigation District an any other interested parties, to be present at this meeting to discuss options for the elderly, poor, & disabled being the focus of the report. Supervisor Gutierrez stated the Department of Aging also has a program for Seniors.

Supervisor Gutierrez discussed the possibility of the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee being renamed "Commissioners" because of their limited authority and stated some information they receive is confidential, such as employee complaints, etc. Supervisor Gutierrez also stated he would like a Commission of 5 – 1 from each Supervisorial District and would like a report by the Equal Employment Officer on this matter.

Supervisor Mow also requested the Board look at the functions of the Civil Service Commission, as possibly overlapping with the EEOC functions.
