NAME: FIRE CODE BOARD OF APPEALS

COMPENSATION: $25.00 per meeting plus actual & necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties including, but not limited to, mileage to & from the meetings of the Board.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: Section 4-1004 of the Ordinance Code of San Joaquin County. Ordinance #3664 dated 6/2/92.

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 5 Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Fire Official or his designated representative whose District is subject to the appeal, shall act as Secretary of the Board, but shall have no voting privileges. A member shall be qualified by experience & training to pass upon pertinent matters & the person shall be familiar with the Uniform Fire Code & its application & relationship with other related codes. A member shall be neither an elected official nor an employee of San Joaquin County or a fire protection district, but shall not be disqualified as a member by membership on or employment by any other board, commission, agency, or authority of or created by or for San Joaquin County or a fire protection district. Must be a resident of San Joaquin County.

TERM: After initial staggered appointments, all appointments shall be for 3 year terms at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors.

DUTIES: To hear appeals by persons aggrieved due to administrative decisions in the application of the Uniform Fire Code.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: Meetings of the Board will be called by the Secretary when necessary.
