NAME: DRUG & ALCOHOL PROGRAMS ADVISORY BOARD

COMPENSATION: None for meetings; reimbursement for actual & necessary expenses.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: Health & Safety Code, Sections 11805 & 11964. Resolution R-92-736 dated 8/25/92.

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCYREQUIREMENTS: 20 Members. Membership must be representative of the geographic & demographics of the County, Law Enforcement/Criminal System, Education, Treatment/Recovery, Youth, & the General Public Membership shall have ethnic, professional, &thereof & may be reappointed by the Board of Supervisors. The terms of membership shall be staggered such that approximately one-third of the terms will expire at the end of each calendar year. Membership shall not include any person or their spouse or their significant other who is any of the following, according to San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, or a Staff employee of a member of the Board of Supervisors, a Board of Director or Staff member of a County operated or contracted program, a Staff or Board of Director of a County Health or Health related agency,or a Board of Director or Staff member of a program receiving Federal or State Funds.

TERM: 3 Year Terms, staggered appointments.

DUTIES: The objectives of this Board shall be to reduce alcohol & drug abuse in San Joaquin County by:

1) Participating in the Master Planning process to establish the priorities for alcohol & drug prevention & treatment services in San Joaquin County;
2) Review the priorities established in the Master Plan on an annual basis for the purpose of evaluating the progress toward meeting the stated objectives;
3) Advise the County Alcohol & Drug Program Administrator on any needed changes in the policies & goals of the County Master Plan;
4) Promote activities that educate the public On the needs & services for alcohol & drug prevention & treatment;
5) Periodically review the publicly funded programs operated by the Office of Substance Abuse; &
6) Participate on a Standing Subcommittee which focus on:
A) Education/Prevention;
B) Treatment/Recovery or,
C) Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Issues.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION:1st Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at various Alcohol & Drug Programs & other meetings as may be called by the Chairperson.
