MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 16 Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

A) 5 Community Representatives (1 from each Supervisorial District)
B) 4 Representatives from Community-Based Social Service Agencies dealing with children
C) 1 Representative from the Children’s Services Department
D) 1 Representative from the District Attorney’s Office
E) 1 Representative from Mental Health Services
F) 1 Representative from Law Enforcement
G) 1 Representative from Juvenile Probation Department
H) 1 Representative from the Pediatrics Profession
I) 1 Representative from Education

TERM: 3 Year Terms.

DUTIES:

1. To provide a forum for interagency cooperation & coordination in the prevention, detection, treatment, & legal processing of Child Abuse cases.
2. To promote public awareness of the abuse & neglect of children & the resources available for intervention & treatment.
3. To encourage & facilitate the training of professionals in the detection, treatment, & prevention of child abuse & neglect.
4. To recommend improvements in services to families & victims.
5. To encourage & facilitate community support for child abuse & neglect programs.
6. To introduce & monitor legislation pertaining to children.
7. To conduct needs assessments & identify gaps in services
8. To spearhead community education on the needs of children.
9. To make recommendations on the allocation of AB 2994 & AB 1733 funds.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: 1st Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m., County Office of Education, 2901 Arch/Airport Way, Stockton, CA.
