NAME: ASSESSMENT APPEALS BOARD

COMPENSATION: $75.00 for a.m. meetings; $l50.00 for full day meetings.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: California Constitution, Article 13, Section 16; Revenue & Taxation Code Sections 1620 et seq.; Ordinance #3210 & Board Order B-85-1637 dated 9/17/85; & Board Order B-92-1596 dated 9/25/92.

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications are set forth in Revenue & Taxation Code Sections 1624. A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in this State as one of the following: certified public accountant or public accountant; licensed real estate broker; attorney; property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, or is a person who the nominating member of the Board of Supervisors has reason to believe is possessed of competent knowledge of property appraisal & taxation.

TERM: 3 year terms.

DUTIES: Equalization of taxable value of property.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: Hearings held on various dates consistent with availability of applicants for equalization - Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, 7th Floor, Courthouse, Stockton, CA.
