NAME: AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD

COMPENSATION: Members shall serve without compensation. However, upon advance approval by the Board of Supervisors, necessary expenses incurred by members shall be paid.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: Resolution R-83-329 dated 2/15/83 of Board of Supervisors & Board Order B-89-312 (3/7/89).

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS,& RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 18 Members to be appointed by the Board of Supervisors as follows: 2 representatives from each Supervisorial District (at least one involved in production farming) 1 representative from the Farm Bureau - PERMANENT APPOINTMENT 1 representative from California Women for Agriculture 1 representative from the Ag Commissioner - PERMANENT APPOINTMENT 1 representative from the Farm Advisory - PERMANENT APPOINTMENT 1 representative from United States Soil Conservation Service - PERMANENT APPOINTMENT 1 representative from Resource Conservation District - PERMANENT APPOINTMENT 1 representative from an Ag related industry 1 representative from an Ag financing institution 1 member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as EX-OFFICIO 1 member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as ALTERNATE EX-OFFICIO

TERM: 3 year term

DUTIES: To provide for citizen input in policy areas of developing agriculture & agriculture-related planning objectives & implementation of objectives in the best interests of San Joaquin County; to study & make recommendations on matters of concern to agriculture, including support or opposition to State & Federal Legislation, promotion of agriculture related activities in the County, & assessment of local laws & policy affecting agriculture.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: 1st Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Ag. Extension Office, 420 S. Wilson Way, Stockton, CA.
