NAME: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

COMPENSATION: No Compensation, but may be reimbursed for related travel expenses.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: Board Order B-73-1289 dated 6/26/73 directing the CAO to develop a plan to implement an Affirmative Action Advisory Committee as recommended in Resolution R-73-1463 dated 6/26/73. Revised by Board Order B-91-1835 dated 11/26/91 increasing the number of Community Representatives from 7 to 12 and raising the total number of members from 11 to 16.

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS, & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Adopted 1994 Affirmative Action Plan changes composition for a total of 9 Members: 7 Community At-Large Representatives 1 Department Head or Assistant Department Head Nominated by the County Administrator 1 Employee Representative Nominated by the County Administrator

TERM: 2 Year Term

DUTIES:

1. Review the process of the Countywide & Departmental Affirma-tive Action.
2. Identify areas of special community concern.
3. Assist in the development & recruitment policies to hire, retain, & promote qualified minorities, women, handicapped, & disad-vantaged persons.
4. Assist in developing & maintaining a Cultural Awareness Training Program.
5. Make periodic semi-annual reports to the Board of Supervisors.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: 1st Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m., Canlis Administration Building, Room #110, 24 S. Hunter Street, Stockton, CA.
