NAME: PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL

COMPENSATION: None.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: Board Orders B-83-1572 dated 7/l2/83; B-85-1138 dated 6/25/85; & B-94-169 dated 2/1/94.

MEMBERSHIP, QUALIFICATIONS,& RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: 19 Members consisting of the following: 10 - Business Representatives, 2 from each Supervisorial District, with at least 50% of these members representing small businesses. Business representatives must be owners of business concerns, Chief Executives or Chief Operating Officers of Nongovernmental Employers, or other Private Sector Executives who have substantial management or policy responsibility. Individuals must be nominated by general purpose business organizations. 2 - Representatives from Education, 1 representing elementary & secondary education, & 1 representing higher education. Individuals must be nominated by local educational agencies, vocational education institutions, institutions of higher education or general organizations of such agencies or institutions, & by private & proprietary schools or general organizations of such schools. 3 - Representatives from Community-Based Organization/Organized Labor. Organized Labor Representatives must be selected from individuals nominated by recognized State & Local Labor Federations. 1 - Representative from Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. 1 - Representative of Economic Development. 1 - Representative of the State Employment Service. 1 - Representative from Public Assistance Agencies. Public Assistance Agencies are defined as agencies which administer programs which provide Federal, State, or Local Government cash payments for which eligibility is determined by a needs or income test.

TERM: 2 Year Terms.

DUTIES: Statutory.

MEETING DATE & LOCATION: 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at 850 N. Hunter Street, Stockton, CA, & upon call of the Chairperson.
