SHABBIR A. KHAN, Treasurer & Tax Collector has mailed personal property tax bills to over 25,000 business, boat and aircraft owners in San Joaquin County as of July 24, 2009. Payment is now due and will be delinquent if not paid by August 31, 2009.
People who have owned personal property in San Joaquin County - such as a boat or aircraft - or have leased or owned fixtures and equipment related to a business on January 1, 2009 must pay the tax.
To view your taxes or pay online using a credit card or check, go to www.sjgov.org/Treasurer or by phone, dial 1-866-575-5333. A convenience fee is charged by the company supporting the website/phone. This convenience fee is in addition to the personal property tax amount paid.
If you do not receive a tax bill by August 4, 2009, call the San Joaquin County Tax Collector’s office, Unsecured Section, at (209) 468-2133.
Failure to receive a tax bill shall not relieve the lien of taxes, nor shall it prevent the imposition of penalties.
If the bill is not paid by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2009, a 10 percent penalty will apply. Additional penalties will be added if unpaid after 60 days. Payment received through the United States mail, post marked on or before August 31, 2009, will be considered timely. Payment may be made by mail at P.O. Box 2169, Stockton, CA 95201-2169.
