available to the public between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Effective January 1, 2008, the full Social Security
Number should not be on any document presented for recording. In
addition, effective January 28, 2008 an additional $1 is being added per
document title to implement a Social Security Number Truncation Program,
which will redact the first five numbers of social security numbers on
recorded documents from January 1, 1980 (AB 1168).
The Recorder’s Office also offers the Public the
opportunity to research any of the 268 different types of recorded
documents. Documents can only be viewed, however, by coming into the
office. Please click here to access our Grantor/Grantee Index, which
provides information as of January 1, 1968.
Deeds and other official documents dating back to
1851 are available on computer and film. A photocopy can be made of the
desired document, and, if necessary, the photocopy can be certified.
Certified copies can be submitted in place of original documents for all
court proceedings and legal purposes.
Photocopies are $1.00 per page if self-assisted and
$2.00 per page if staff-assisted. Certification is $2.00 per document.
