JUVENILE
HALL VISITING PROCEDURE
I. VISITING POLICIES
| A.
VISITORS |
| |
- Opportunity for visitation shall
be a minimum of one visit totaling one hour per week.
- Only parents or legal guardians
may visit during visiting hours. Special visitations require
authorization by a Probation Officer II or above.
- Small children are discouraged
in the visiting area. Only children five (5) years old or
younger may be allowed.

| B.
PERSONAL PROPERTY |

- No personal property will be
allowed in the visiting area, including: purses, packages,
bags, cigarettes, food and drink items, hair care items,
combs, magazines, personal letters, stamps, etc. Postage
stamps can be left at Intake to be forwarded to the minor's
personal unit file, for the minor's use.
- Visitors should be instructed to
send all personal letters through the United States Postal
Service.

| C.
VISITOR CONDUCT |

Parents,
guardians, and minors are expected to conduct themselves
appropriately during visiting. Any disruptive or improper conduct
will result in a warning or termination of the visit, depending on
the severity of the activity. Significant incidents will be
documented by an Incident Report, including any recommendation
regarding future visitation limitations or elimination of visits.

SMOKING POLICY |

Smoking
inside any county building is prohibited.
|
| E.
CONTRABAND |
| |
Welfare and
Institutions Code Section 871.5 makes illegal the introduction or
possession of weapons, controlled substances, or alcohol in the
Juvenile Hall.

| F.
CAMERAS |
| |
Cameras or
the taking of photographs in the Juvenile Hall are prohibited.
|
| G.
VISITING HOURS |
| |
Normal visiting will
occur on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and
2:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Visiting

- Special or restrictive visits
may occur on weekdays, as authorized by a Probation Officer II
or above.

II. VISITING PROCEDURE
At the start and end of each visit, two
staff are required to be present: the intake staff and the Duty Officer.
Procedures for visitors will be available upon request.
Visitors will fill out a visitor's slip.
Intake staff will verify the visitor with the visitor file. First time
visitors will be given a copy of the Visitor's Rules. Personal items will
be secured in the lockers provided.
Visitors will be called by the Duty Officer
one at a time to walk through the metal detector. All metal items will be
placed in the small basket on the reception counter prior to the visitor
walking through. If the detector is activated, the visitor will be asked
to place any additional metal items in the tray. Visitors will only be
allowed access inside the security area if no metal is detected.
Any visitor displaying unusual, bizarre, or
inebriated behavior will not be permitted into the secure part of the
facility.
