CROSSROADS PROGRAM
CROSSROADS
Program
The CROSSROADS program is
committed to the challenge of reducing the juvenile crime rate
within our community.
CROSSROADS is a
comprehensive, multi-disciplinary program, involving the services
of the Probation Department and Juvenile Justice Agency, San
Joaquin County's Human Services Agency, Office of Substance
Abuse, Mental Health Services, Public Health Services, Office of
Education and Center for Positive Prevention Alternatives.
The program's primary focus is to
effectively address the needs of pre-delinquent youth, ages 12-18
and their families, in an effort to prevent escalation of
behavior into the juvenile justice system.
 |
It's not enough to
stem the tide of serious youth crime with incarceration
alone. What is needed is a comprehensive plan that
includes prevention. |
Our
driving goals
- Reduce the rate of truancy and curfew
violations
- Increase school attendance and improve
academic performance
- Strengthen the family unit
- Improve self image
- Reduce contact with criminal justice
system and overall arrest rate
- Assist youth in becoming independent
and successful
CROSSROADS offers three
months of free crisis counseling and additional months of follow
up care. This support is provided at the CROSSROADS
office and at the youth's home or school.
 |
Effective prevention
and early intervention programs for at-risk children may
be the long-term key to reducing juvenile crime. |
