Micke Grove Zoo will once again have a
WILD summer as we welcome
back WILD THINGS, a
unique animal presentation, beginning this Saturday, July 26 at the
zoo, located at Micke Grove Regional Park in Lodi.
Presented by San Joaquin County Parks
and Recreation, WILD THINGS
will showcase various animals and reptiles in the zoo’s East End quadrant
each weekend through Labor Day. The 30-minute shows will be presented
on Saturdays and Sundays at 12 noon and 2 p.m. Micke Grove Zoo’s summer
hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Owned and operated by Gabe and Barbi

Weddings
& Special Occasions
Weddings, and other special occasions, are popular at San
Joaquin County Parks.
Micke
Grove's Japanese Garden is a favorite wedding spot with Cherry Blossom
trees, Tea Pavilion and Koi pond. Couples can choose from two garden
locations, each offering seating for 75 (garden weddings can accommodate
up to 175 guests).
The park's Memorial Auditorium, located directly next to
the Japanese Garden, provides plenty of space for a reception, party or
corporate meeting. With seating for up to 252 guests, the auditorium
also features stage and professional-grade kitchen facilities. An
additional 50 guests can be accommodated in th e
Solarium (included
in weekend Auditorium rentals).
If a small venue is needed, Oak Grove's Boat House offers indoor and
outdoor seating for up to 50 people. The Boat House sits on the park's
10-acre lake, providing beautiful lakeside views.
But by far, the most popular facilities are each parks' picnic shelters.
Our shelters and picnic areas are available for groups from 25 to 600
people and are perfect for family reunions, company picnics and parties of
every kind.

Camping
Two of our regional parks, Dos Reis and
Westgate
Landing,
offer R.V. and tent camping at reasonable prices.
Dos
Reis, located off Interstate 5 just west of Lathrop, offers 26 R.V. sites
with full hook-ups and shower facilities. Tent camping is also available
from 12 noon Friday through 8 a.m. Monday and holidays. Dos Reis also
features boat launching into the Delta, along with picnic tables,
barbecues, horseshoe pits and a children's play area.
Westgate Landing has 14 R.V./tent campsites (no hook-ups available), a
fishing pier, overnight boat docking and picnic sites. Like Dos Reis, the
park (located north of Highway 12 near Terminous) is tucked in along the
San Joaquin River.
To book a campsite at least two weeks prior to desired date, call (209) 953-8800 or 331-7400.

Fishing
A number of fishing areas are available in San Joaquin
County regional parks. At Oak Grove Regional Park, a 10-acre
lake is stocked annually with seasonal Catfish and Trout. We offer
three fishing derbies, The Fishing Derby For Kids (1st Sat. in
June), the Trout Bout (third Sat. in Nov.) and the Bob McMillen Memorial
Fishing Tournament (1st Sat. in Feb.) - each offering opportunities for anglers to experience fishing, some for the
very first time. Fishing at Oak Grove is $3 for those 16 years and older -
a valid California fishing license is required since all Dept. of Fish and
Game regulations apply.
At Dos Reis Regional Park, fishing access to the San Joaquin River is
available via the park's floating dock and boat launching capabilities.
The San Joaquin can also be reached from Mossdale Crossing Regional Park,
which has a large, two-lane boat ramp with floating dock.
Westgate Landing Regional Park, one of three parks located on the
Mokelumne River, has overnight boat docking and a fishing pier, while
Stillman L. Magee Regional Park features fishing at the river's edge and
Woodbridge Regional Park offers a riparian environment where fishing
enthusiasts snag Trout, Black Bass and Catfish (California Dept. of Fish
and Game regulations apply).

Boating
Boating acc ess to the beautiful Delta waterways is
available through three of our regional parks. Dos Reis Regional
Park offers a floating dock with boat launching capabilities, Westgate
Landing Regional Park has overnight boat docking and a fishing pier. Boat
docking at Westgate is $15 per slip per night. Each park, located
alongside the San Joaquin River, offers R.V. and tent camping; for more
information, click here.
At Mossdale Crossing Regional Park, a large, two-lane boat ramp with
floating dock gives access to the San Joaquin, Middle and Old Rivers.

Paddleboats
One way to enjoy Oak Grove Regional Park's 10-acre lake is
by riding a Paddleboat. The water "vehicles" are
available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from April to the first week of October
(weather permitting). Thirty-minute rentals are $5.

Disc
Golfing
Oak Grove Regional Park is also the site of an 18-hole Disc
Golf course. To play, participants throw Frisbee-type
discs into golf course "baskets" for points. The popular game is
available for play during normal park hours, there is no charge (park
vehicle entry fees apply).

Hiking
Oak Grove's natural oak woodlands offers two different
trails for hikers. The Miwok Trail is a nature preserve with oaks
dating back centuries. Native plants and animals can be found during the
1.5 mile walk, such as Western Fence Lizards, Red-Tailed Hawks and Acorn
Woodpeckers.
The Yokuts Trail is a 1/4 mile handicapped-accessible trail where native
plants and animals such as wild Geranium, Elderberry, Scrub Jays and
Kestrels can be found.
