The Transcultural Clinic, also known as T.C.C., is a mental health outpatient clinic for the Southeast Asian community in San Joaquin County. There are approximately 25,000 Southeast Asian refugees in San Joaquin County. This represents nearly 5 per cent of the total county population. The first refugees from Southeast Asia began arriving in 1975. The largest influx of new arrivals took place in the early part of the 1980's. The mental health needs of this growing population led to the establishment of the Transcultural Clinic as part of San Joaquin County Mental Health Services.

Tragic events produced involuntary displacement and the refugee status of these new arrivals to our community. This upheaval resulted in the need to address specific mental health issues.
The Transcultural Clinic treats approximately 900 clients. Treatment is provided for a many different mental health disorders, including depression, post traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia.

• Interpreters are available at T.C.C. for the following languages:
  Cambodian, Hmong, Khmu, Laotian, and Vietnamese.
• Counseling, psychiatry, nursing and case management services are available at T.C.C.
• There are services for adults and children available at T.C.C.
• Medi-Cal covers the cost of these services.
• If an individual does not have Medi-Cal or other insurance to pay for services, the cost is adjusted according to the individual's income.
• The first visit to T.C.C. does not require an appointment. Individuals interested in mental health services at T.C.C. are welcome.
• The clinic is open for walk-in visits between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
