Land Use/Land Development
The purpose of this program is to prevent health hazards and mitigate environmental degradation from land development projects. In San Joaquin County the EHD staff serve as advisors to the County Planning Commission. The EHD staff investigates and evaluates county land use applications involving subdivision and parcel maps, site plans, variances, use permits, environmental impact reports, business licenses. Projects are evaluated for compliance with laws regarding domestic water supply, sewage and solid waste disposal, and vector control. The EHD staff attends pre-application conferences, development committee and Planning Commission meetings.
