Institutional Housing Inspections
State law requires the County Health Officer to inspect jail and detention facilities on an annual basis. Housing standards for sanitation, occupancy and maintenance are evaluated at each detention facility in the county, and the findings are reported to city/county officials and the State board of Corrections. The EHD also provides consultation on request for the purpose of reducing the incidence of preventable injury, illness or death.
