CDPH WARNS CONSUMERS NOT TO EAT FRESH GINGER FROM CHINA

SACRAMENTO (August 1, 2007) –

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has determined that fresh ginger imported from China and recalled on July 27, 2007, by Christopher Ranch of Gilroy, Calif., was distributed to Mollie Stone's stores in the Bay Area as well as Albertson's stores and Save Mart stores in northern California.

The stores have been notified and have pulled the product from sale. Customers who purchased this product between July 10, 2007, and July 27, 2007, should discard it.

CDPH and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are still investigating to determine the full distribution of the product and to identify other retail stores that may have received it.

Currently, there are no reports of illness associated with the contaminated ginger.

Please contact the CDPH Office of Public Affairs at 916-440-7259 for further information.
